APRIL SCHLAU, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to meet each client exactly where they are in their journey. My approach emphasizes creating a safe, secure, and supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and life experiences without judgment. I am trained in a range of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma, foundational Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), grief counseling, and couples therapy using the Gottman Method, allowing me to design individualized treatment plans that address both immediate concerns and long-term growth.
As a military spouse of 22 years and a mother of three, I bring a unique perspective to my practice that informs both my empathy and my approach to therapy. I understand firsthand the challenges of navigating life transitions, complex family and relational dynamics, and balancing personal and family wellbeing. These experiences allow me to connect deeply with clients, recognizing the courage it takes to face difficult emotions, implement change, and work toward personal goals.
I particularly enjoy working with couples to strengthen communication, rebuild connection, and foster intimacy and understanding within relationships. I also work with individuals managing a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADD/ADHD, relational challenges, grief and loss, adjustment difficulties, parenting concerns, self-esteem and self-discovery, life transitions, and stress management.
My approach blends evidence-based interventions with empathy, practical strategies, and individualized support, empowering clients to navigate challenges, cultivate resilience, and move toward meaningful growth. I am passionate about helping clients feel seen, heard, and equipped to create the life and relationships they desire.
