BEYOND ANTIDEPRESSANTS:
SPRAVATO
If you’ve tried several antidepressants without relief, you may be living with treatment resistant depression (TRD). Spravato (esketamine) is a cutting edge, FDA approved treatment proven to work for treatment resistant forms of depression. Unlike nearly all other antidepressants that frequently take weeks to begin working, Spravato often works rapidly and sometimes within as little as 24 hours of the first treatment session. As the most centrally located Spravato treatment center in Southeast Virginia, we are uniquely positioned to help you find relief from unremitting depression.
Through the work of SeVA’s dedicated Spravato coordination team, led by former Navy Corpsman Eli Boyd, we effectively work with insurance companies, specialty pharmacies, and Jannsen Pharmaceuticals to circumnavigate challenges and quickly initiate treatment. After all, you’ve suffered long enough! In some cases, we’ve been able to start treatment within less than a week from the date of initial consultation. Also, thanks to savings programs that our team will investigate on your behalf, cost of treatment is often no more than $10 per session.
Our first priority, however, is safety. Although medical complications from Spravato are exceedingly rare, you will nevertheless command the attention of a trained medical assistant during treatment. In addition to our prescribing clinicians, one of which will always be on site during treatment, we also employ a Registered Nurse and EMT-B certified former Navy Corpsman to care for clients during Spravato sessions.
Why consider Spravato with SeVA Psychiatry?
Availability: Consultations are generally available within 1 week of the initial appointment request
Rapid insurance processing: Our team is skilled at rapidly obtaining insurance authorization, often within less than 1 week of the initial consultation. Our goal is to make a client’s first treatment available within 2 weeks of the initial consultation.
Assistance with enrollment in savings programs: With enrollment in savings and rebate programs, commercially insured clients may pay as little as $10 per treatment session. Comparatively, non-FDA approved ketamine treatments may cost more than $400 per session.
Flexible Scheduling: We offer treatment Monday through Friday in 2 hour blocks, starting from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Comfortable Treatment Rooms: Unlike other centers that exclusively treat clients in a group setting, we make a concerted effort to place clients in individual treatment rooms where they may receive treatment in privacy or in the presence of trusted family and friends. We provide comfortable recliners along with music playlist recommendations designed by clinical researchers for the purpose of enhancing the Spravato treatment experience.
Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP): Unlike most Spravato treatment centers, we offer options for KAP. Our KAP program is led by Tashia Smith, LCSW, who received her training from the Polaris Insight Center.
Emphasis on safety: Although Spravato treatment is safe and generally tolerated well, we are prepared for the exceedingly rare emergency. In addition to having a prescribing clinician on-site, clients are monitored by a RN and/or EMT during treatment. With an automated external defibrillator on-site and a location across the street from Sentara Leigh Hospital, we are prepared for the worst so clients can maintain peace of mind during treatment.
If you’re tired of the same old treatments (with the same old side effects) not working, it might be time to try something different. Request a consultation today!
We also offer racemic ketamine for those that are uninsured and/or aren’t interested in Spravato. Given that Spravato is the only FDA approved ketamine based treatment for depression, insurance will not cover ketamine administered via nasal spray, intra-muscular injection, or IV.
