What happens during TMS?

Treatments generally last between 3 and 40 minutes, depending on the prescribed protocol.

You remain awake and seated comfortably throughout treatment.

Most patients feel tapping, tingling, or brief muscle movement near the treatment area.

You can return to work, drive, and continue normal activities immediately afterward.

Unlike ECT, TMS does not require anaesthesia, doesn’t intentionally induce a seizure, and generally does not cause memory impairment. In fact, people often report less anxiety and clearer thinking as their depression improves, with better memory and concentration.
